Roof aerial gasket broken

Hi guys.

As you can see in the pics, my '08 yaris roof aerial gasket is broken.
My only concern is for a possible water infiltration with bad weather conditions.
Any advice on what to do?
Should I just try to fix it or do you think it's better to replace it with a new one?
In that case, do I need to remove the center seatbelt, C pillar cover, headliner, etc or can I just work outside the vehicle?

That part does help keep water out. I don't think you can buy it separate of the antenna assembly, so you may want to try repairing it first.

Get some RTV (it even comes in black!) and slather enough in the general area that it keeps the water out. If you want a nice looking repair, you'll need to buy whatever part comes with the gasket from Toyota. However, I drove an ex-taxi/ex-cop-car with all the requisite roof holes. RTV solved all leaking for years.

The nice thing with RTV (over using caulk) is that it shouldn't damage the paint. Just don't use the old-skool stinky stuff because it's more caustic and might damage it. The black stuff isn't acid cured so it's a great choice, anyways.

Perfect solution

Hi guys, I know that this is an old post owever I will tell you what I did to replace the sealing rubber for the base antena on my Yaris.
First of all Toyota only sells the assembly (antenna base + the sealing) for 150€, however the rubber that we need is the same as the VW Golf and Polo and VW sells it in separate for around 6€! So go to a VW part supplier and buy it because is exactly the same rubber.

In order to install it you can do it without disassemble anything in the interior. You only have to pour the rubber in hot water (near to the boiling temperature) for around one minute (in order to make the rubber more flexible), after that you mount it introducing it by the top of the antena base. After cooling of the rubber it stays in the place. Easy! I hope it works for you too.

Thanks AJ Jorge,
This is a great cross reference, only people who own both Yaris and Golf/Polo and encountered this problem has the chance to experience!

muchas gracias
