Broken part needs identifying

Hey dudes and ladies,

I was changing my belt out and broke an electrical connector off of some part of my car. I'm not sure what it is but I need it identified so I can call toyota to get a new one. Here's a couple pictures. It's a 2 prong connector that connects to the alternator. The broken side came off of the cylindrical looking guy connected to the engine, that's the part I need identified.

first picture shows where the connecter broke off from, second shows how it's supposed to looks.

thanks in advance!

Yes. It is the oil control valve. I have a low mileage (3000 miles) used one that I could do $55 shipped for, if you are interested.

Thank you!

I wish I could buy yours but I need to fix it tonight.

I do have a question though. Is this 3 pieces? I pulled it out and the external part and a shaft like thing came out. But the exterior part with holes that you see seems to be stuck in the motor.

I guess my question is if I buy a new one can I slide the shaft into the existing one that is stuck in the engine so long as I tighten the exterior part so the O ring seals it? I tried to get the 3rd piece out but I just can't get it...

Thanks.

If it's not 3 pcs then part of it broke off and is stuck in the head :(

Any suggestions on how to extract it?

This is what the whole thing looks like. How much of this is stuck?

Essentially everything past the o ring snapped off inside the head!!!

I struggled with it for an hour or so, but ended up using a weird little metal hook I found at a hardware store to catch one of those holes and yanked it out. That was pretty awful and scary. Thanks for all your help CT you sure are a good dude!

It was the worst feeling ever. I struggled for so long with some extended 90 degree pliers as well as regular extended pliers.

I thought I'd clear up what I did to remove it in case this happens to anyone else. When It broke off, I barely exerted any force on it, so I'm not sure how it snapped.

I attached a photo to show how much of it was stuck in the head, basically the entire half that has holes in it.

What I ended up doing was grabbing this little guy from the hardware store, which is basically just a coupling nut with a hook on one side and a loop on the other. I bent the hook so it was more of a 90 degree angle and fished around inside the part to find one of the holes in the side wall. When I found a hole, I put pliers in the loop end of the little tool and gave it a good pull and wiggle and it finally popped out. I then immediately poured myself a whiskey coke.

Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. If it does happen, the little hook method literally took me about a minute to extract it rather than struggling with pliers for another couple hours. Cheers!

Sorry that happened to you and glad you got it out. However, over the years, there have been plenty of post advising people to stay well clear of the OCV when working the belt.

BTW, your improvised tool is call a turn-buckle.
