Paddle Shift Kit - Toyota Yaris Forums

I was thinking the other day of a way to make my car more "fun", and well I always drive my car on back roads and shift between gears manualy, like I am sure many Auto owners do. But what I want to do is add on a paddle shift kit. Does any one know of a good universal kit?

There was a company that was working with a few of my harley truck brothers in adapting a kit for our trucks.. not sure whatever came of it though.

Hmmm, Yea it would cost a stuff load of money. I would never waste my money on paddle shift , or an automatic with manual shift mode especially not on a yaris if it was an option. If it would break or something happen to it, it would cost a lot of money to fix, rather than a standard 5 speed. With all this new technology, it does come at a price.

FYI - the aftermarket kits are designed to work in addition to your stock gear selector...

The only applications I have seen thus far, have been for the old school muscle cars that have made a huge comeback at shows, tv land, etc.

makes you wonder why the Fit has it and the Yaris doesn't. They're practically the same price right?

A paddle shifter is an unnecessary expense in the country's cheapest econocar. It provides no performance advantage, and anyone who really knows how to drive a stick will tell you where to stick a tiptronic.

haha icic. what's the point of paddle shifting anyways? i think the manual gearbox is way better.

the reason I got the auto is because the "wife" can't drive stick, and I didnt want her learning on a brand new car. I want the paddle shift kit because i drive to drive and I enjoy the back roads!

Thats steep and the air bag would have to be removed.

yeah this is the only unit that I saw, as it was said it seems to be best in a hot rod of sorts

i'd say just using the gated shifter works just as well.

btw, guilty as charged... especially with the dubs on, i find myself having to hold onto 1st gear a little longer to get goin smoothly/without floorin it. Normally I could care less how slow I drive, but occasionally I like to keep up with traffic :)
