Talking I found My New Sound/DVD/Nav system!

Well i got my yaris about 3 weeks ago..then about 3 days later I found "Yarisworld" and I cant stop looking at people's ride, looking for way to make it better..bumpers/lips/mirrors with the light for turning/mods..you name it..I love this place.

Well anyway I wanted a better radio because i drive alot on my afternoon job and wonder what should I get...I think this is it the ..Pioneer AVIC-D3
It has everything i need DVD nav..very important
Ipod control,DVD movie playback,Sat radio..nice screen..and alot more..sweet.

Expandable is great..bluetooth,and I always wanted to have a rear camera, which by the way can be installed on this unit..I'll have it in about four weeks..still looking for a better price than Crutchfield..but they had alot of good info on the unit..yeah it's going to cost but Pioneer is a great company with alot of history

Check here for the a video on the product..

the rear camera is overrated. i always wanted one too until i got it and i never even look at it when i back up. it was cool for like three days.

but awesome choice on the head unit!

I just installed the AVIC-D3 a couple weeks ago and I am so in love with it. At first I just had it with the iPod direct cable (the interface is really good) and then I added a Sirius tuner this afternoon and now I think I'm just going to live in my Yaris from now on. ^_~

It's a great head unit with a lot of features for the price.

This guy uploaded some YouTube videos with examples of almost everything the D3 can do, it's pretty cool (it's also in 11 parts, but worth it):

I think there's a couple other people here who have it with pics of what it looks like in their car, too.

I am interested too in the rear view camera portion. I probably wouldnt look at it too much either when backing up, but I think it would help when parallel parking and knowing how close you are to the vehicle behind you.... that would be my purpose with it anyway....

Im starting to see why there is no reason to spend any more money on a car that just will be all show and no go....

I have spent enough myself and the only thing left is engine work.... but no way will I drop $3000+ on that when I could save that for other things or even for a future car.

after market back up camera unreliable

I had a after market in-dash navigation system with back up camera in my old Ranger. Camera unreliable and added $110 to the cost. I prefere to install my Garmin right behind the steering wheel. I have the 7 inch screen Garmin in my first Yaris. Larger navigation screen expensive but easier to read. New 4.2 inch Garmin nuvi 255WT is more affordable. But some of the small parts of the display is harder to read. I can take the nuvi out and use it to find my way back to my car. I try to hide my Gramin 7 inch with a truck size sun reflector. The overhang makes it harder to thieves to look inside my first Yaris. My second Yaris has those wire frame sun reflectors. The wire frame cloth sun reflectors do not darken the Yaris enough to prevent thieves from looking into the Yaris.
