that's why it's nice to have keyless entry . Which we don't . We always make sure that one of us has a key in our pocket for this reason . Been there . Everyone has lapses . I would agree with chino, it wont cost 2 grand... definitely cheaper than that.
The rubber would be cheap, the more expensive bit is the sanding and the dent fixing....
since there isnt much to be repainted, it could be done cheaper....

Dont worry mate, it will be alright... shop around panel beaters in your area for a cheaper one.

Regarding a locksmith getting into the Yaris, they didn't pick the lock on mine, or "jimmy" it. After looking at it from a few angles they mashed a soft wedge into the top rear of the driver's door to create a small space and then used a semi-malleable metal rod with a rubber tip on it to actually roll the internal lock button on the drier's handle to the unlocked position just like you would with your finger. Pretty nifty.

talk to the toyota dealer, the price for the weatherstripping/rubber for both sides is 120 dollars including taxes................................sigh

Good on you.... Now, surf around for a reasonable panel beater.....ask the toyota dealers where do they send cars for panelbeating... Sometimes those can be cheaper....

i'll probably leave the weatherstripping alone......a few rips and tears on the weatherstripping is ok right?

if u're going to spend 2k for fixing it, might as well do a repaint of the whole car!

Actually it looks as if some panel beating, bogwork, and sanding down would smoothen out most of the damage.

The cost is probably in the painting, and if you're prepared to just blend the paint in then it shouldn't cost too much.

But the damage you did to your car, it looked like you were being chased by a whole pack of grizzly bears, and the car was your only refuge!

rofl, if that only happened.....i would feel better.

i don't need it to be perfect, just looking a little better. i'm heading to the body shop on friday. i don't mind blending in the paint a bit. as long the new paint isn't red or something

I've locked my keys in so many times I always have a spare hidden in the magnetic box under the car somewhere. Years ago I bought a brand new Ford F150 and started it to warm it up like you did and locked the door by accident. I was lucky enough to be at my parents house, borrowed their car, drove across town to the dealership to have a key made to get inside, since then I've always had a spare. I'm sorry to see all your damage though. It's always easy to look back and say I should have done something else, like I said your not the first and you won't be the last.
