New instrument panel

I was wondering whether I could install the more advanced instrument panel on my very basic version. I got the one that doesn't even come with a radio. I installed one myself, thanks to the documentation and help on this forum and saved about $1,000. And actually I think I got a better radio than the factory standard

I'm sure the panel that has both the speedometer and tachometer has the same size, but are all the wires in place, etc?

Any ideas?

First of all, congrats on being able to use this site to save a buck or two!

Secondly, unfortunately to date nobody has found a way to swap a speedo with a tach into a USDM liftback. There are different problems depending on the model of cluster you're talking about swapping, but to date it hasn't been done to my knowledge. That isn't to say it has been ruled out. So far the Canadian RS cluster and the Netherlands digital cluster have been two aforementioned worthy candidates for the swap, but they are extremely pricey... you're talking just short of to over $1000. With no garauntee it will even work, it isn't hard to see why nobody knows yet.

Someone has to be first.

I have noticed many ppl on here praise scangauge II's, but as for this poster I think they are looking for something more comsmeticly apealing (a nice way of saying the scangauge is an eyesore on the dash of a Yaris). Correct me if I am wrong fmicle

If you're looking for an inexpensive way to easily monitor a host of systems in your vehicle, the Scangauge is for you.

If you're looking for a way to monitor your vehicle and a primary tachometer that is easily visible when driving, you're definitely better off going with the Blitz R-VIT, RacePak, or a comparable setup.

The cheapest alternative? Get the Scangauge to play with and an analog aftermarket tachometer.

I was thinking about putting a cd player I have in just so I could put some subs in it. I cant decide if I want to or try to hook up subs to the stock cd player.

It's been a while since I first posted this question, so I'm wondering, has anyone done it in the meantime? Swap the speedo with a tacho that has both speed and rpm? How about alternatives to the Scangauge? I'm looking to get a gauge pillar, but I can't seem to find a gray one, only black, and the upper part of my interior is gray, not black...

Any ideas, suggestions?

Besides the scangauge there are some offerings by the japanese tuners.

GReddy Informeter Touch is a small, standalone, touchscreen display:

The HKS Camp2 and the Blitz R Vit DS integrate into a screen, either navagation or dvd player, etc.

HKS:

Blitz:

They all do similar things. It seems like the GReddy one would be preferable, especially in a Yaris. It comes with its own screen, its small, and if you did put navigation into your car, you would be able to use both navi and the extra gauges.
