No sound deadening under the hood.

I just noticed it now. Is it normal? Is it worth to instal it?

Mine doesn't either. And I think it is more for heat shielding.

I believe it's for heat shielding, also, keeps the engine heat away from the paint on the hood - Here's mine from a 3rd Gen. Yaris L - If they offered it on the 2nd. Gens you can most likely order it. Probably offers some sound deadening, too, although our Braun Electric Toothbrush is louder than my 1NZ-FE...!

Honestly unless you go all out and you really care about no noise than it is no big deal. If you want to go all out check out Derrick's thread. He went so far you literally couldn't hear the windshield wiper motor. It was amazing.

I've seen some US 2nd gen sedan with this thing. My Canadian S doesn't have it.

I saw the new Dodge Dart sedan at the Houston Auto Show in January, and noticed that the Dart does have this. It's pretty thick, and pretty much covers the whole underside of the hood.

Lot of vehicles have them...I remember my 72 Chevelle Convt. had one, Camaros I drove had them. Thought it was pretty cool it had one when I popped the hood at the dealer on my Yaris. The one I test drove there 2 days earlier (5 Door Metallic Gray L) had one, also.

I was trying to pick another car that can be had for a similar price point (to the Yaris). I'm amazed that a new Z28 can cost 75k, especially when one can get a new Camaro SS for about half that.

You can order it through the dealer . Could possibly get it at a auto salvage for cheaper . Probably would tame engine noise .
