OEm Battery Longevity Test! Join In Or Comment !

My OEM battery is six years old this past April. I intend to let it die before replacing it. The OEM battery was 7 years old in my 01 ECHO before I replaced it and it was actually functioning when replaced.

How long did your OEM battery last before replacement? I drive almost exclusively 14 miles a day five days a week or ~5k miles a year.

I'm at 140,000km on my '08 Yaris and I drive approx 20,000km or so a year and still have the original Panasonic battery. I won't touch it until it dies. These batteries are awesome.

It may just be me but last winter I thought I could notice it turning over slower in the -30 Celsius mornings than a couple years ago, but no problems starting in the cold.

Don't wait. I knew mine was going and ignored it until forced to deal with it. I got stranded deep in French speaking New Brunswick.

BTW, the original lasted almost 8yrs/187,000kms.

good point, I wouldn't go too far with it seeing as I'm 7 years in on it, but I have jumper cables in my trunk all the time so i'm not too concerned if I'm driving around locally

Noticed it, too. A couple times it cranked a bit slower. 105k km on original Panasonic.

No corrosion, ever. Bronsin's thread would probably explain why.

I'm 9 years onto my OEM Panasonic battery. I did 156k KM.
Battery felt weak last winter. I will replace it before next winter.

I really wish Panasonic batteries were sold in the states, our 2002 Echo still has it's OEM Panasonic & It's still going strong even after a very long and very cold winter here in NY state.

I just replaced the stock battery on our 2009 Yaris.....only because it just stopped starting the car. @___@ nearly stranded me at the gas pump.

Sorry for your inconvenience....but the image of a car not starting at a gas station is a bit humorous .

At the time it wasn't funny haha. But yeah would've been a heck of a day.

My original battery is 5 1/2 years old (111K miles) and it still works just fine. It's a daily driver and gets ~20K miles put on her every year.

Replaced my battery for the second time yesterday. It could have been replaced under warranty for 25% of MSRP or about $85, plus $45 labour! Instead, I chose to use a dealer coupon for $99, including labour.
