DIREZZA STAR SPEC vs YOKOHAMA S.DRIVE

When it comes down to it it's about the tires... I can get the same wheel, in the sizes to fit both tires just the Direzza is a 195/55/15 and the Yokohama is a 195/45/16. I know the Drezza is better on the smooth track but my roads are the exact opposite except for the twists and turns. What's your opinion on these tires?

The two tires are not in the same league. If you want a true summer performance tire with stellar grip, telepathic turn-in (and, yes, stiff sidewalls), then get the Star Spec.

If you want a really good performance all-season tire... get the S.Drive.

Yummy Stars....

People are having issues with the S Drives, as they tend to scallop.

The Dunlops are great, until it rains. Then it's a whole different game. I drive around a really twisty lake road to work everyday, they scared me too many times now I've got some toyos.

the RE11 might be the sliiiiightest better for another $50 a tire!

i have used the star specs in autox, about a dozen track days, and daily driving and i cannot believe how good of a tire it is... i will be buying another set this winter

now the star specs are proven on a track to be great but when roads aren't smooth it's a different story, that's why i'm considering the s.drive's. I just need sumthing performance but great in the rain.

Toyo T1R. Very good grip, outstanding in the rain, quiet and comfortable. Turn-in is a little sluggish due to their soft sidewalls, but that's their only fault. (aside from not being SUPER grippy like a top-tier summer tire)

i think you are thinking of R1R's, which do wear quick, but are fast

my only concern is they toyo's are $30-$40 more than I was looking to spend per tire. I'm was looking for $80-90 range on a 195/45,50 or 55/16 or 15. I'm not planing on going much over 100mph, just want something I can push the car in and still have it grip well.

you dont need an extreme summer unless you want to autox or track the car...

try here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/types/tiretype.jsp

the top is more expensive, grippy, and will wear out quicker and will suck in the rain. as you go down, everything goes the opposite direction...

Toyo R1R is a completely different animal from the T1R. The R1R is on par with Star Specs (probably even better... but pricier).

I was looking more at price, that's why I chose these 2 tires. Also in my original post I said it was for mainly street use. I guess the S.Drives will be my choice.
