Ehh, TRD is great and all, but $330 for an intake? Most of that cost is the warranty.

Injen makes a GREAT intake, and their CAI (if you can wait a couple months) will probably be $220 or so. Buy a bypass valve for $30 more and you're set.

i have a buddy that works at aem.. that make some pretty good intakes..ill ask about the progress on those..(he works in R&D)

there will be intake companies pouring in for sure..one of the most common mods anyone can make.

Give it some time.. All the major intake guys are testing & building now for the Yaris... Once they all get released, the prices are sure to come down a bit, and be competitive.

If the extra cost keeps my warranty intact, then I'll pay it.

Just a quick note (specifically for you, Ron)- it is illegal for any manufacturer to void a vehicle's entire warranty for one part. If you were to go to a dealership with an aftermarket intake on the vehicle and you had a problem which should be covered under warranty, Toyota would have to prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that your air intake is what caused that specific problem. Manufacturers can only void warranties on parts that are specifically damaged by the modification in question.

Now, another note for you guys looking to do header and exhaust mods to your Yarii- if you go to the dealership with, say, a bad O2 sensor or any other emission control part (which is actually, under federal law, covered until 8 years/80K miles) and you have an aftermarket header or exhaust, the chances are nil that the O2 sensor will be covered. Toyota (or any other manufacturer) will argue to the death that those two mods caused the premature failure of the sensor.

Hey, I'll be buying the TRD intake. I don't mind shelling out a few (OK, a hundred or more) extra bucks to show Toyota that I love the fact that they give a shit about their aftermarket-thirsty clientel. The suspension they have is amazing... I have no reason to believe the intake or whatever else they come out with will be any less. If the TRD gods are reading this, can we have a supercharger please? Pretty please?
