What type are they? They look good, I like the dark center and chrome outer, I've been noticing that style more and more.

Anyone know how much the stock 14" and 15" steel wheels/cover weigh (without the tires)?

The stock Yaris hb sits at 5.5" high. In comparison, the Camry sits at 5". It is definately on the high side.

What size should I Install 15', 16' or 17?

Hello yaris fans, I'm almost ready to buy my set of wheels for my yaris hb, but i'm not sure about what size , my yaris came with 14' inches, the full version has 15' with 185/60 tires , I been looking differents sizes and models , the sales guy recomend me 15" with 195/50 tires , another sales guy recommend me 17" with 205/40 tires , I also consider 16" wheels so I'm kind of confused ..

any advices?

cheers

carlos.

The weight is almost more important than the size.

A few Vitz in Japan are running 19's, so any size will fit.

So go with what you think will look good.

For me, I am prolly going to go with 14" or 15", because the wheels will be very light.

BTW, from researching on the net, it looks like the stock 15" steel wheels that it looks like all of the US Convenience Package Yarises will be coming with weigh in at around 17lbs.

I'm most likely going to get 15x6.5 Rota Subzero's in Bronze (from http://www.subydude.com) which are 12lbs

Or maybe 15x6.5 Rota Slipstreams, which are a tad lighter at 11.5 lbs:

I'll probably just keep the stock tires on it until they wear out, and then get some Falkens.

Ouch, 17lbs? What are they, concrete?

I guess I'll be looking for a local Volk Racing distributor faster than I thought.

Can you even get 15" Volks?

EDIT: Yes, you can - they make 15x5.5 TE-37's that are 8.5 lbs a piece, while the 15x6.5's are 10.5lbs a piece. Considering I can get a set of Rotas for the price of a single TE-37, I think I'll stick to the Rotas. ;)

How much do the Rota's weigh?

for 8.5 lbs a piece, paying a little more for them is fine by me. I just checked online and one of the firsts links I saw was $355 per wheel for 15"x5.5", which weighs less than 8.16lbs.

You can buy 14" x 5.5" for $310.

For the 15" wheels, 8.16 * 4 is 32.64 lbs.

17 lbs * 4 lbs is 68 lbs.

That is half the weight.

Considering that some sources state that 1lb on the wheel equals 4 lbs above the suspension, if the car is daily driven the gas savings will prolly add up to be more than the extra cost of the wheels.

Edit: Rofl, I missed the posts with the weights.

I checked out the Rotas, and if my point wasn't to make my Yaris as light as humanly possible, I would be interested in them. They look good, and they are inexpensive as well.

Yeah, the Volks are really really light - pretty incredible. But we're getting ready to buy another house, so I'll make do with the Rotas for a while.

EDIT: This car is just for weekend driving and occasional errands since I work from home. I just want to eek out a bit more performance.

lol, I edited my last post before refreshing. I am impressed with how inexpensive the Rota's are, and if my point in buying the Yaris wasn't to make it as light as humanly possible, I might buy those instead.

I suspect the silver isn't quite this dark in person, but if the silver really is on the redder side as suggested by Toyota's photos so far, bronze should look pretty killer on it as well...

Here's the blue just for the heck of it:

It looks good with the silver.

I am prolly going to get the white TE 37's, with one of the blue Yaris 3 drs.

Blue and white will look killer on a Blue Liftback - I was thinking the same thing for a while. I just know my wife would make fun of me mercilessly if I did white.

Are you going to go for the 15x5.5's? Seems a little limiting in the tire selection department, but if you're going for light - that's certainly the way to go. I share your enthusiasm for trying to make it as light as possible, but I can't justify spending that kind of cash at this point. I do have a race seat ready to go into it, just have to figure out which base I need - not sure if you can use a Sparco xA base, or what.
