Sqeak, squeal

Everytime I start the car after it's been parked for awhile, it would make a high pitched squeal after I turn the key. It lasts for about 1 sec. It sounds like something is spinning up and is coming from the engine compartment. I opened the hood of the car to see if I can see something when it starts but it does not make that sound when I have it open.

Before I take it in for service, anyone have any general ideas?

I wonder if it has something to do with the AC since that was something I had the dealership install. The engine will start, then like 1 sec later, I hear this squeal then it goes away. Then when I park and start, I hear it again.

I'll bring it in today and see what they do and update this thread just in case someone else in the future has the same problem.

I have the same problem too. Every morning when I start the car, I hear a high pitch squeak for about 1 sec. It never happen when I first bought the car 3 weeks ago. My cousin's car also have the same problem only his last for about 3-5 secs. I wonder if it's normal. It's kinda frustrating because when you take it to the dealer, the car's fine, so the technicians can't really figure out the problem unless they see/hear it themselves.

this is not normal. A belt is loose. Have them tighten it. I had them do it.

I brought it in and it didn't make a squeak. left it over night.

When I first bought my car, it was fine too, then it started squealing. at first it was only when i start the engine, then days later it was when I braked or clutched.

you have a manual or auto?

I keep getting a rattle in my liftback.
Narrowed it down to the third brake light housing.
Tried a few things but it keeps coming back.

Also have that thing when first starting up, put in in reverse and hear a rattle for the first few seconds of accelerating, sounds like a heat shield or something vibrating.

The rattle in reverce is the exhaust, the engine torque pulls against it in reverce and you get a bit of a rattle. when it's hot it's not usually as bad

I have an auto. Yea, I also think it's the belt but I thought if the belt is loose, the sound will be there even when driving. Anyways, I'll be doing the first 1000 km checkup next week, hopefully can fix the problem. Thanks for your advice though.

Well once my car was warmed up. it wouldn't make that noise at all. It happened when it was cold.
