Rear Bumper guard

I just purchased a rear bumper guard, because I sick of scratching the bumper with putting things in and out of the back. I already have a big scratch on the top of the bumper.

I got it from Sparks for $49 shipped, compared to $54 at my local dealer. Are they pretty easy to install? I know this has been covered before the hack. I will get the guard on tuesday. I will post some pictures when I get it installed.

Either one should be easy to install. You just need to clean the surface completely, soap then rubbing alchohol. Which one did you buy, the hard plastic one that curves over the lip or the rubber one that has a hexagon pattern? If you bought the hard plastic one, you are going to have to either clear coat it or put some sort of plastic protectant on it or it will fade out in 6 months or so if you park outside, mine did. I have the same color car by the way...

The hexagon one was the first one Toyota released in the US. I had it on my '07LB the whole time I had the LB (two years) and it never faded. If you can find this hexagon type one, get it.

Toyota has released newer ones this year that say "Yaris" on them. I hope they don't fade like the one above.

ok, thats the one I bought, problem is if you park outside it will fade to a grey color in no time. You either have to clear coat it or put some kind of plastic protectant on it on a regular basis. Frankly I just got rear ended about a month ago so I had to get a new bumper anyway I think I am going to replace it with the other smaller protector, it is a type of rubber and should not fade according to the other guys who have had it on the car for awhile.

It's stuck on with two long strips of double stick tape. I had a little trouble getting it snugged up against the curve of the bumper, and it's not really something you can pull up and try again. Mine is about an 1/8th on an inch too far back, but at least I got it centered. I recommend you take a few practice passes at positioning it before you peel the plastic off the foam tape.

I used the Toyota hexagon one. I think the hex one looks the best, since it matches the front grill pattern. I had to order it from the USA since they don't sell it here. It hasn't faded, and sticks and fits great. It comes with a template to install it, so you know exactly where to line it up. On the lip of your trunk, there is a little line that tells you where the center is to help you out.

Btw, it appears the 2009 is also available. Still prefer the hexagon.

I ordered my Hexagon bumper protector from

http://cgi.ebay.ca/TOYOTA-YARIS-LIFT...1%7C240%3A1318

This seller has perfect feedback, and great customer service. They are a licensed Toyota dealer.

That looks like the one I had on my '07 LB, but the eBay link and Google searches of the part number says it's for the sedan. Doesn't the sedan's bumper have a smaller width (less bumper surface from the trunk door to the bumper edge) than the LB's bumper?
