I'm not sure of what i'm about to say and i know this is an old thread but i thinkk if the friction become higher with the exedy clutch stage 1 its because the clutch disc is thinner than the stock one ! I guess the pressure plates have to move a little further to stick on the disc.

Correct me if i'm wrong
