TRD Spring Install Labor Costs - Toyota Yaris Forums

This is not something I want to do myself.

Im just curious what people have paid/time it takes to do the install.

I know the back is super quick.

I did a search for this first and found nothing about labor costs.

maybe Rockland Toyota can hook something up if I take a trip up to him?

*just realized this should be in the suspension area...oops

actually...the back are the most difficult ones, the front ones involve a lot of taking stuff off but are a lot easier to work with, I do them and charge 250.00 for all 4.

I did mine myself and the back springs just fell out once I took out the strut bolts. I thought they were easier.

Also, I would recommend doing this yourself. I'm hardly mechanically inclined at all and I just followed the DYI and installed my Tanabe DF210's in about 2 hours.

The rears are way easier. We do it for $100, takes 2-3 hours. Two tools are helpful, a spring compressor and an offset 17mm box end wrench so all the cowling doesn't have to come off.

Yeah I did have to take my windshield wiper cowling off. PITA.

I was charged $170 for the front including alignment. I removed the cowl for them and did the back myself.

Anyone near NYC wanna make a few bucks? Id like to at least have someone who has experience and tools by my side.

I bought the quality strut spring compressor on sale and did it myself in the driveway.
Word of advise. If you have a rear swaybar already installed remove it first. Otherwise if you follow the TRD directions and do one rear side at a time the axle cannot fall far enough to pull out the OEM spring.
The whole job took me about 4 hours alone, first time with all the necessary hand tools including allen keys, torque wrench, floor jack, stands and an electric impact gun. If I were to do it again I'd estimate 2.5 hours easy. I did have a few delays such as the mentioned swaybar issue plus I assembled the first strut with the spring seated incorrectly which required me to re-compress that spring and rebuild the assembly.

One plus of having the install of TRD parts done at a Toyota dealer is that the parts then fall under your Toyota warranty, for whatever term you have left. Including their extended warranty. This may make it worth the effort of at least getting a quote from your local dealer and then depending on their rate weigh the cost vs. warranty gain.
Should you install the parts anywhere other than at Toyota only the one year TRD warranty applies.

I did them myself as well and it was very simple especially the rear, the front has a lot of taking apart but it is a all easy. The key is having the right tools for any job. (spring compresors). Take off the wiper motor bracket it is so much easier that way. I would really suck if you strip that allen on top of the shock.

It was a great eight year run, but it was time to focus on other things. I'm still selling parts on eBay under micro*image seller ID and customers can still make requests for anything specific.

The key is having the right tools for any job. (spring compresors). Take off the wiper motor bracket it is so much easier that way. I would really suck if you strip that allen on top of the shock.
