How reliable is the Yaris?

Hi all! I just purchased a used 2007 Yaris 4 door hatchback about a month ago. It has 67,500Km (41,942 miles) and so far I'm loving it!
As a first time Toyota owner, I just want to get some feedback on reliability.
I keep hearing how Toyotas are very reliable, but are there any significant problems with the Yaris that I should be concerned about?
If anyone has ever had mechanical or other issues please post.

Thanks!

77,000 miles, I have only done oil changes, filter changes, wiper blade changes, transmission fluid change, replaced the tires once.

We have a member that has over 350,000 miles on his I believe and had no major issues up until just a little while ago. Not that he has a major issue, just a rather odd one. And yes, I did mean 350k. He was using it for his job which required hours upon hours on the road. I am at a loss for his avatar however if you even do a search in the forum for 100,000 oe 200,000 you should find his threads.

I want to say that member topped 400,000 miles now. I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure. Crazy stuff!

Yeah I know which member you're talking about, but I can't remember the name either...I saw his video on youtube...quite impressive! What about rust problems?
We have some pretty harsh winters here in Canada...and all the road salt really takes a toll on our cars. So rust is really one of the things I'm concerned about...

Just went to.ziebart.for.undercoating. very good stuff. Its.black and.tacky. NOT.rubber. do not.use.rubber.undercoat.

One.crack.in.the rubber and sal water gets trapped in there and it will highly start corrosion. And u wont know whefe itt is until your frame.getss.rusted oit.

Also.check out waxoyl. Very good stiff!

Above post referred to my 2007 and was written on 10-04-2010.

I sold the 2007 with over 90K miles, and the car ran like new. Additionally, I had to change a worn out belt, the battery a second time, the wipers, and the tyres again.

I would consider my 2007 to be a completely trouble free car... except the clear-coat paint was peeling.

Now, my 2014 has over 60K miles. I've changed the battery, wipers, and tyres. The car runs like a champ. I love it every time I get behind the wheel. The 2014 is also proving to be trouble free.

i haven't even needed to replace the original battery yet. Only thing I've needed to do was replace the tires, and i'm almost at 60k miles.

I did do the 10k services for a while when I had the extra cash, but that was simply because i could easily afford it.

I have a 2007 HB and I have replaced battery, 2 tires, and the bulb for the fan speed control. Not bad for 97k

i will tell you what i like about the yaris. i am on my second one. i had a 2007 and i was on a road tip on christmas eve 2007. well actually it was bout 2 am christmas morning. i was cruising about 75 mph on an interstate. when a deer jumped out of the ditch in front of me. There was absolutely no way i could have avoided it. i didn't even have time to hit the brakes. My fiance and dog were asleep in the passenger seat. both airbags went off.. and after spinning/sliding around multiple times. we stopped. noone was hurt. noone even got a bruise. the car was totaled but all the crumple zones works perfectly. this car a the usual rattles and squeaks of a cheap sub compact. but with toyota quality there are rarely any major issues. i love the gas mileage i get. and because it saved my family and me. i got a 2009 when cash for clunkers came about. i love this car for its affordability, reliability, and quality. when it comes down to it. its one of the best, cheapest cars on the road.

edit: the only casualty of that wreck was my cell phone.. the screen got cracked.. but the presents in the back never even got wrinkled wrapping!

im pushing 48k miles on my 08 hatchback. i have no problems other than my short shifter kit squeaking once in a while. Im expecting to run this thing into the ground..... im estimating using it till 120k miles then ill get something else. A quick side note, i also crashed a sedan at 75 when i t-bonned a lady that ran a stopsign at an interstate thruway. I had cracked ribs but that was because ive cracked them before. My passenger was a ok and technically i was too so i would recommend this vehicle for new drivers for its safety.
