Center console

What did your salesman say was the reason for the console being in
the center?

Yes I accidentally put this in the wrong thread - so please ignore this one.

I read that the reason Toyota put the speedometer in the top center of the dash is to save $200 a piece building the Yaris. The story said that Toyota is trying to come up with a economy car design that can be sold at a profit. The idea was to use the same dash with vehicles that have the steering wheel on the left side and to use the same dash in vehicles with steering wheel on the right side. That would save Toyota the expense of building two production lines to make two different dashes made with two different wiring harnesses.

Worked out good though. I love not having to look through a steering wheel to see my gauges.
