Chumpcar Endurance Racing

I tried Chumpcar racing for the first time recently, and it was awesome! Definitely recommend this experience to anyone wanting to "try out" wheel-2-wheel endurance racing. Our car was a 94' Jetta with the 2.0L and 200tw tires.

And here is the little Jetta/Miata battle video:

Fun video. But needed some in-car action.

Oh man you have no idea how depressed I was when I found out they forgot the GoPro on my stint....mainly because of the surprise tire issue. I do have video from a following Miata though!

I took a pretty hard look at doing chumpcar. It's pretty cool trying to keep a beater alive for the entire race, and you (hopefully) get a ton of seat time. It's just so bloody hard to find enough people with the time/money to meet the 3-4 driver requirements.

Still looks like fun though.

Cheers.

That was a fun battle to watch.

Man, I would love all that seat time. :)

The best way to try chumpcar is to buy a seat like I did, I would never be a team car owner because I love my car too much to trust strangers with it. I got lucky honestly, this team saw me on "The Smoking Tire" and took a chance based on my attitude and ability to handle a FWD car. I'm no where near the fastest driver, but I do know how to treat equipment like it's my own and not jeopardize a whole race for just one pass....and that's what's important

Chump car and lemon races are a blast.. I have helped other team do a trans swap in grid to get their car back on the track. Did a transmission swap on a EF civic hatch in like 15 mins with 6 other people. It's awesome to have a group of people knowing exactly what goes where

Yep, it's a load of seat time too. This is how I break it down

Chumpcar - $2.50 per minute(real competition)
Track day - $1.50 per minute(testing mostly)
Autocross - $8.75 per minute(driver fine tuning)

How many runs do you get in your regions and how much is registration?
