Unlock Hatch door problems 2015 Yaris

Is there a way to disconnect the electrical from the rear hatch as it is a PITFA.
I have to read a fucking manual how to open a door. I mean really. WTF

When you unlock the doors with the lock button then the hatch will open with the rear handle. If you unhook the handle the hatch won't be able to open anymore

So then why do they put a lock cylinder for a key in the rear hatch ? This sounds to me like one of those anal safety features.

It's a switch to lock and unlock the doors since I'm guessing you don't have keyless entry

When you press the remote twice to unlock & all doors, then the hatch will open also. If you press it once for just the main driver door to unlock then the hatch will not unlock either. Basically, all doors must be unlocked for the hatch to unlock.

2.5 years into my 2015 Yaris ownership experience, and I still instinctively reach down looking for the latch next to the gas-release latch to open the hatch/trunk - like every Honda/Acura has had for the 33 years that I exclusively drove them prior to purchasing my Yaris (& 1st Toyota).
