Cool Das Auto

Just over eight years later, my Yaris is gone.

Traded it in for a new 2018 Volkswagen GTI.

Thankfully my new-found addiction to turbonium has helped me with my Yaris withdrawal.

2018 VW GTI SE

Twice the horsepower, twice the fun... and the same fuel economy.

36.8 MPG!

congrats, I'd love it if you could check back here every once in a while and give a comparison of the two cars such as reliability, actual mpg and fun factor

Since you asked…

4,600 miles, no real issues in regards to reliability so far. The trunk leaked a bit in the rain… reseated one of the plugs under the spare tire and have been high and dry ever since.

Actual MPG last month or two has been about 35 mpg with mostly highway miles. Couple of tanks were at around 32 mpg on account of some drive-at-5-mph-with-the-AC-on-high construction season fun. (Pennsylvania has two seasons when it comes to driving: construction and winter…)

Fun factor is still off the charts. Acceleration is smooth and once that turbo spools up...
