What do you guys think about this?

okay, i'm planning on getting a sub and amp at Best Buy. the sub is a 12" Rockford Fosgate (i think it's the Punch series). the amp is a Sony amp. can't remember the specs on it, but i think it's 250 rms watts. i played that combo and it's freakin' sweet. as for the box, i think i'm just going to get on off of eBay. i don't want to spend 100 bucks on a box.

btw, i'll be using the factory head unit (have to get an amp kit and a high-to-low adapter). i think i'm looking at roughly around 400 bucks for this set up.

who and how much? the sub needs around a little more than 1 cubic feet in a sealed box, and around a little more than 1.7 cubic feet in a vented box.

and i think the Sony amp is the GTR series.

i don't know if i want to trust eBay with electronics, but those prices are damn good, esp. for Type R's. would you buy it from eBay? plus, i wanted to do monthly payments, but then again, with prices like that, i may not have to. but then again, again , i can get that RF Punch and Sony GTR amp for $288 (before taxes). but man, Type R subs....what would you guys do?

I only say Type R subs because it is the sub spkrman has been playing with as of late, and I'd assume he already has a nice box design ready to go. That should save you some time, hassle, and maybe even a little green... have to talk to him about that. And yes, I would trust Ebay for electronics. If you're really worried, you can ask for shipping insurance for a little bit more. The first seller has a 99.7% positive feedback rating with 1400+ sales and the second has a 98.8% positive feedback rating with over 61,000 sales... I wouldn't worry.

Here is what Mark does with Type R's.

lol...i've watched that video at least 5 times abd crack up every time. i've always known Alpine to be a very good brand, but not cheap. my friend has an Alpine amp, and he says it never gets hot.

yeah, i've considered those feedbacks on those power sellers. i think i may just go with eBay. heh. i'll PM Mark about the box.

i think i'm going with that set up now. which amp kit should i get, any particular brand? i was thinking a RF 8 guage kit, but the one on eBay says it doesn't come with insulation. what is insulation for?

can anyone find a complete kit that's relatively good? thanks.

okay, bought that sub and amp

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...7912&rd=1&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3049&rd=1&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...5645&rd=1&rd=1

do these include everything needed (except the high-to-low adapter) to install the amp?

i'm thinking about going with the RF 4 guage kit (if it has everything i need).
