Well, at least we beat the Aveo and the Smart....

(Not a fan of Chevy, and the Smart is just toooooo small! IMO anyway)

I think a lot of it is related to gas prices being lower for most of the year.

I think the Yaris did good. The top two are the cheapest, so that is understandable.

There is nothing to worry about most people will trade their Hyundai Accents for Yari's after they find out how crapy they are. And that will bring are #'s up

I didn't see any Yaris's on the few Toyota lot's I visited through Sept.

How can it sell if there are none to buy? Toyota seems to have slashed production.

The other subcompacts seem well stocked.

Anyone else notice scarce inventories?

Yeah, Yari on the lots are scarce.
By me, they come in batches of 6 or 8 and disappear quickly. You can't make the numbers of you don't have the product to sell. The Versa's I saw when I was car shopping were not any cheaper than the Yaris' at all.
The '08 Fits were overpriced in my opinion and looked kinda dinky next to the muscular stance of the HB I bought from Toyota.
Saw a 5door today in the new burgundy, It's sharp!

Most of the people I know who are looking for a vehicle in this segment are not happy with the fact that the yaris does not come with better options and more upgrades and better packages. And the middle console to most is different.

I think by definition that puts them in another market segment...

My local Toyota dealership sold there last 2009 Yaris at the first week of September and didn't get their first 2010 until last week, so I'm not astonish if other dealership had experience similar problems.

The Yaris has been in showrooms since late Winter and early Spring of 2006 (as a 2007 model) and now it's nearly been 5 years. I'm not surprise that Yaris had fallen in sales since there are brand new or new redesigned compacts on market to choose from now. Examples are the Kia Soul and the redesigned Honda Fit.

Really?

Versas (and Sentras) remind me of boxy Derby hats. The Yaris is much more sleek IMHO.

I just traded my 2008 Flint Mica Sedan S Manual for a 2010 Blazing Blue Pearl 5dr. LB Manual and I'm so happy I did! At Findlay Toyota in Flagstaff, AZ, there were only 3 Yaris on the lot...a red 2009 3 Dr. automatic, a 2010 sedan automatic, and the car above I have now! The salesperson let me keep my TRD Sport shifer knob and sport muffler tip on the DL that were included on my Sedan S!

The pluses: for whatever reason, the clutch operation and overall shifting ARE MUCH EASIER than on the 2008 sedan. I had the sedan for a year and a half and I felt like I was still trying to get used to the clutch and shifting!

The front interior door panels have more cloth and padding than my 2008 sedan did.

Tachometer on the LB...hurray! Was not an option in 2008 which is one of the reasons I ended up with the sedan in the first place.

More visibility through the large LB window, great for backing up!

Less of a blind spot on the sides I've noticed.

Blazing blue adds a pop of color the flint mica didn't have.

Love the extra storage on the driver and passenger sides the sedan didn't have.

Arm rest in the middle is more comfortable than the top of the center console in the sedan.

The MP3 jack is in a much more reasonable spot!!!! What were they thinking before? (in the sedan, it was located deep inside the passenger side cubbyhole, not an easy hole to find when sitting in the driver's seat!!...and that's never good, lol)

Minuses: none so far!

way off topic: Does anyone else think the Scion TC (exterior) looks like a 2 door coupe version of the Yaris Sedan?

I work at a dealership and I know they've been scrounging for used ones because for some reason Toyota isn't shipping enough out. The Versa is better hands down for bang for buck, unless the Yaris started around 10k and came with a tachometer and for 14k we got power windows and locks. The Versa is also bigger so I can see why it's #1. I sold Hyundai for a month before switching to service and I sold 3 people an accent because it was a lot cheaper than the Yaris and still was sporty.

So basically the Yaris is too expensive for it's value and is hard to find. I know I wanted one in blue, red or black and I had to settle for silver because it's all they had for the 0% apr for 60 months.

Only 13000 units seperate the top four cars so the Yaris is still selling well comparatively.

I am surprised the Kia Soul did so poorly considering the money spent advertising it. The even uglier Nissan Cube did even worse. What is most troubling (as a Toyota Shareholder) is how poorly the Scion line is doing. I would have hoped a Scion would have been in the range with Kia Soul and Nissan Cube. Toyota screwed up the XB when they changed it and the XD is pretty mainstream. I am glad the Government Motors cars did so poorly

Gasoline prices can not stay at current levels. The dollar is very weak and likely to stay that way. When the world economy starts to improve, demand for oil will rise. With a weak dollar and OPEC talking about selling oil in nondollar currencies, the price will increase. Demand for small cars and hybrids will increase.

I agree--oil can't stay where it's at. The market has done a "benchmark" and see that Americans will pay $4 for gas. I can't imagine it staying at $2.73 (price for 87 here in Oregon) for a long time.
