Need a "Mild" Drop (..and other stuff)

Hey folks, since acquiring the 17" rims I've been somewhat unhappy with my new 4x4 stance and would like to see the Yaris get a very mild drop (lowering springs?)

I want to maintain the ride quality and don't want to feel every pebble/rock, dips, rtc. on the road. I'm just looking for a slight drop (1" at most) and something that would not require me to replace the oem struts or need a camber kit.

Any brand of springs you can recommend and/or can recommend a reputable place where I can take the car to get it done around the GTA? I'm mechanically challenged and not really interested in DIY'ing it (no tools).

Thanks!

Eibach Prokits for a 1" drop. These springs are what Toyota Canada installs if you get lowering springs from the dealership.

Try sending thebarber a PM. He may be still selling his.

you can put TRD springs in consideration too, 1.2" drop, both front & rear.

But first, PM thebarber, it's better to deal locally.

Thanks WeeYari and beZzZ.

I'll do a research on the eibach's and trd's to see which ones fit the bill. cheers.

By the way, those rims look great on your car!

Did you have OEM wheels on beforehand? If so, have you noticed much difference moving over to the 17s? I ask because I had 17s on mine when I got it from the dealer, so I am interested in the observations of someone who had stock rims and tires and switched over to 17s on how the handling has changed, performance differences and also what kind of effect they have had on the fuel economy...

Cheers! M2

TRDs are a mild drop with good ride quality, IMO.

They are 15x6 EM7s with Toyota centers and a +39mm offset. The tire is a 205/55 ContiExtremeContact.

Just thought I would share, here is one of the place selling TRD sparing for descent price.
http://www.trdsparks.com/displaypart...&parts_id=1136

Eibach spring is a very good option also, it is widely used for many car manufacturer as an accessory option.

Yeah, trdsparks get very decent price for the TRD spring. Just the shipping for USPS is around USD $110, which is a bit too expensive. That's why I got mine from Treyz.

Mines a sedan which has been heavily loaded several times for long trips.

My TRD springs (red) which were spec'ed at 1.25" drop are now closer to 1.5" drop after nearly two years and ~50,000 kilometers of pure enjoyment. No regrets.

BTW, I had the alignment checked a couple of weeks after in the install, and it was spot on....camber and toe were perfect. You'll certainly not need a camber kit....unless you want more camber. I was able to get -0.9 degrees when I put everything back together...and that's enough for me.

Thanks! The wheels are Enkei CDR9's. I did have the standard OEM wheels before but note that I only had the car for a week when I upgraded the rims/tires. With the 17's they feel a bit lighter to me, much better in corners and grip is excellent.. although road noise has increased a little bit. Fuel efficiency? not really sure as I've only had the car for a short time.

Your car looks hot Billiam. I'm now leaning more towards the Eibach's (1" max) though as I don't want to end up ploughing snow in the winter, lol. Apparently the Eibach also has more of a cushion/comfort feel (and drop appears "milder") compared to TRD's stiffer ride.

The pic below really shows the difference between stock and lowered... really have to get mine done. I though about ordering from tirerack.com, drop ship them somewhere in Buffalo then drive across the border to pick them up.
