I saw this today. Yaris is included 2006 - 2011 model years. This is one I will line up for. It had to be my year darn it.

i saw it in the news today. my 07 yaris (made in 2006) spent most of it's years in south florida, and last summer there was a leak and humid cabin. clearly high risk for explosion, i'll rush to do the recall ASAP. BTW, a friend has an Acura and Honda is asking him not to drive it and paying him a rental. it's that serious.

Problem is, last I heard, is that the backlog for replacements on the first round of recalls is like several years deep. No telling how long before recall work for this one can actually be carried out.

So you could get killed with shrapnel from your airbag before they get round to fixing the problem.

Anyone know when Canada will be included in this recall.

I just checked my 07 Hatchback on https://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/secure/recalls and I didn't get anything about the Takata airbag inflator but it seems I need to have the power window master switch recall done.

I think the backlog of Takata airbag inflators is being addressed as I've had 2 family members with an Accord and Matrix twin have the recalls fixes done at the beginning of the year.

2015 Yaris struts recall

. Just read something about defective struts in some 2015 Yaris's. Notices will go out to owners soon.

I checked the color coded map on the recall site.
I am in Zone C where there is less temperature and humidity cycles.
Projected significant degradation 15-20 years.
So here in CT. I am not in the first batch of added recalled Yaris's.

My VIN also shows no infiltrator recall.
Just the spiral cable and seat mount rails. Not done yet.

My Brothers Honda was issued a preliminary warning recall but no time table when it could be done.

You can enter your VIN here to check current recall status for your Toyota:

http://www.toyota.com/recall

So far, nothing comes up for mine. I wonder if the recall is specific to the trim level (L, LE or SE)? I'm not sure if the SE "sports tuned suspension" means different parts in that regard or not.

The recall is only for 3100 2015 Yari (so far), which is about 3 months worth of American sales of the model - assuming they are talking about U.S. recalls # only and not North America?

Also, for more info on the recall details:

OK, if they know the remedy ("The remedy, when available, will consist of the replacement of the airbag inflator or the airbag assembly, depending on the vehicle model"), then why isn't it ready? Just replace the fucking airbag assembly, Toyota; or would you rather just deal with the lawsuits from the injuries and/or deaths?!?

Quote:
Title - Safety Recall G0P (Interim G1P) - Interim Notice Multiple Models and Model Years Takata Front Passenger Airbag Inflator (Zone A)

Status - Remedy Not Available

Description - The subject vehicles are equipped with front passenger airbag inflators produced by Takata. According to Takata, the propellant in these inflators may degrade after prolonged exposure to high absolute humidity and fluctuating high temperatures. Degraded propellant can cause inflator rupture during airbag deployment. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, striking the vehicle occupants, and result in serious injury or death.

Remedy - Toyota is currently preparing the remedy for this condition and will provide additional information as it becomes available. The remedy, when available, will consist of the replacement of the airbag inflator or the airbag assembly, depending on the vehicle model.

It's a supply chain issue. Takata, the maker of the defective airbag, is also supplying the replacement. The recall n the US alone affects 70 million vehicles, and Takada lost $120 million in this past fiscal year.

What site did you use to see a color coded map?

Near the bottom of the web page.
http://www.toyota.com/recall/takata

If you click on the down arrow for each colored Zone. It gives data on what vehicles are in the first phase of the expanded recall.
