I searched and searched....
...for the post where the poster had a pic of his gas gauge showing 300 mi. and still showing the fourth bar. I'm heading for that in the next day or so. I just wanted to touch base with 'em assuming I hit the mark, I WILL take a pixture.

That's easy - just refill the tank when the guage shows 100 miles.

Har, har... Actually, to me that shows a sticky fuel gauge. I had the same thing happen: 4 bars showing, ran out of gas. They dragged it in, changed the sender unit, no problems since...

Being a hypermiler I almost always see 300+ miles on tank with 4 bars left. When your mileage is consistently at least in the mid 40's it's normal due to the way our fuel gauge measures the tank in a graduated fashion.

That's what I'm trying for. My one problem is half my trip to and from work has a few stop lights. We'll see in a few days.

I probably never drive like a true hypermiler, but I almost always hit 300 miles at 1/2 a tank, usually drops to 3/8ths at around 310 miles. I can't be a hypermiler because I don't coast, run extra psi, drive under the speed limit and accelerate slowly...I just flow with the traffic and drive about 80% highway. The 20% = about 9 stoplights each way.

Rats, I didn't make it. I dropped to 3 bars at 275 miles. I'll use this bottle up of UCL and that's about it for me. I don't mind making an effort if I know I'll get results but I guess my route just won't allow me to do any better. So now I can drive the way I feel like and stop worrying about mileage. I still get 36-38 driving the way I want. It was worth a try. :)

I didn't try too hard, but I actually tried to do a little bit of hypermiling with my last tank. Probably really doesn't count because I kept the tires at 32psi, but I did make the effort to coast when approaching red lights (didn't bother with coasting down overpasses) and drove about 5mph slower than normal, shifted at about the same rpm, saw maybe a 3/10ths mpg improvement.
