Engine Question?

Yes I am a newbie so take it easy when i ask this question. I noticed there was talk of engine swaps on another post and was just wondering out of curiosity if the 4efte engine from a toyota starlet would fit in a yaris? I would also like to say that i am happy to be a member of such a good forum with members that seem to be very helpfull and actually post.

Welcome!

With enough money, anything is possible.

It is very hard to find a decent engine after all these years...

I would love to see the 4EFTE in a Yaris. For those who don't know, this is a 1.3 Turbo motor that was used in Japan in older Starlets. Very cool little motor and capable of making some nice power :)

Well, with 1.3bar overboost it produces 285hp, which is quite nice...

I would loove to see someone do this. I'm sure it is possible. That would be a sick sick engine in the Yaris.

I'd be intrested in any kind of engine swap.

It may just take 1 little swap, to start a whole flood of them! Just gotta have the money to do it.

Then it defeats the purpose of buying an economical car whose major selling point is its great mileage. A turbo motor, especially one from the late 80s early 90s is hardly a candidate for fuel efficiency.

If you wanted to go fast, get another car, maybe? Something that isn't so tall. You could lower the car till it rubs the fenders and it'd still be tall.

Don't get me wrong, it is a fun car to drive and I love mine to bits, but this talk about 200 plus horsepower makes me wonder whether the car was ever designed to cope with it.
