Do you mean, like engine and transmission choices?

Here in the U.S. we only have one 1.5L gasoline engine available, and one five speed manual or one four speed automatic transmission. Around the world there are also 1L and 1.3L gasoline engines and a 1.4L turbo-diesel engine, and I believe there's a continuously variable transmission as well.

You can usually get slightly better mileage with a manual transmission, if you drive it right. As for engines, the smaller the better, and a diesel will burn less fuel than a gasoline one generally.

if you click on the auto and the manual, you will see real world drivers of the yaris with a 4 mpg advantage driving the manual. of course, all these drivers arent driving under the same conditions, but it is a decent sample size.

so, id recommend the manual to maximize fuel economy, but i dont think it is worth it unless you 1)know how to properly drive a stick and 2) actually enjoy it (and with a yaris, enjoying the stick shift experince can be an iffy proposition for some)
