I have done 10,000 mile intervals 3 times so far( In my Yaris LB )with Amsoil . Even at 10K intervals the Amsoil still looks better ( clearer ) than Mobil 1 @ 5K miles .

According to Amsoil you can save $108.25 for every 25,000 miles when compared to conventional oil .

OP is claiming 1,200 miles per year typical. Would take him over 8 years to rack up 10k miles! I wouldn't wait that long to change the oil.

Personally, I've gone to 15k mile oil changes with good full synthetic oil. But, I do 15k in 1-1.5 years and I'm okay with that length of time.

Honestly, I'm too lazy to walk. I think I will make my first oil change at 6 months and switch to a good synthetic and possibly go to 9-12 months after that. I also kind of like the idea of a lighter weight oil if it will be better. Any longer trips I take will be with my wife and we will drive her 05 xb. It already has 85k on it.

XB . You could possibly use PENNZOIL Platinum Ultra for a longer interval at less than $7 a quart or the gallon jug for less that $29 . May become cheaper when rebates come out or upcoming sales at ADVANCE AUTO or other auto part store(s) .

Yeah I didn't mean to sound as if the OP should change oil every 10K . Loren's suggestion of "every spring" would be ideal if the OP used a decent synthetic oil .

I was just letting peeps know that you can easily , with no adverse effects , do 10K intervals (with a good synthetic) in regards to the oil change .

As of right now I'm changing my oil . Today I will start 15 K oil change intervals .

at longer intervals would change the oil filter 1/2 way through and top off with leftover oil . Different strokes ( piston ) for different folks .

I use the stock Toyota filter . It has no problems with 10K oil change . But for the 15K oil change I will check(replace) the filter .

would think the topoff could take up to 1/2 a quart to bring to FULL mark . When I do oil change will fill the new TOYO filter with close to 5 ounces of oil before installing . When removing the used oil filter seems like 8 ounces or so comes out from block .

I am running M1 now but I usually run which ever is on sale. My next OC will be with PP since it was on sale. If none is on sale I'll pick up M1 they also have good UOA on BITOG.

Short trippers are SUPER hard on oil I would NOT do 1x/Yr OC unlesss you want problems. At minimum do a winter/spring oil change. You need fresh oil through winter.
