You get a nice load of goodies for the $, compared to the yaris... but the XA was really the same way.

I couldn't see myself driving it over a yaris, but I can see ALOT of folks choosing it instead of the yaris.

One great thing, though, being built on a yaris platform, it will open up the aftermarket... and give us lots of new stuff to play with, at least, stuff that is at least similar.

more info...
http://pressroom.toyota.com/search?s...=MY08+scion+xd

the only thing bothers me... the mpg...
manual 27/33
auto 26/32

while for corolla,
manual 32/41
auto 30/38

they are both 1.8 liter engine... (i don't know if they are the same)
why the corolla gas mileage is much better...?

Notice that their mileage ratings don't say "EPA"... seems like on Scionlife someone mentioned that that was false information because the EPA hadn't actually done any tests for it yet, and no one's really sure how those other numbers were calculated. Dunno, really. If they do wind up being accurate, it'd have to be related to gear ratios... maybe it's a pocket rocket!

Y'know what's kinda' disturbing about the xD's design? It has practically no front bumper... it's all gaping holes. There's hardly any space at all to pack the styrofoam. That means little "fender benders" are gonna cost a fortune to repair, 'cuz it'll probably affect the crumple zones immediately.

Maybe we'll get the Yaris T-Sport for '08 as a 2-door counterpart to this 4 door (fingers crossed)!

i don't know... i do see pretty gigantic front bumper...
which picture lead you to conclude that...?

afterall... it is 4 inch longer than the yaris,
if it has no bumper, yaris could be worse...

Dunno. Just seems like that's not much between someone's rear and the expensive stuff under the hood... the yellow area is the only structural part of that massive front end. Keep in mind that the pics ALL make the xD look bigger than it is... for all intents and purposes, it's the same size as the Yaris.

And I agree, the Yaris is probably just as bad.

yeah... yaris owners should be the ones worrying about it more...
(trying to find a yaris picture with same angle for comparison)

one of the reasons i think that the xd reminds people of caliber,
is because there are some suv characters involved in xd...
and i think the bigger front bumper is one of them...
