Squeaking noise from exhaust

I have a annoying squeaking noise that comes from the exhaust when starting from a stop. It happens when the motor mounts flex back when taking off. The mounts are ok and do not flex excessively but the sound definitely sounds exhaust related. Anybody ever experience this? It's just a hunch but I think my donut gasket from exhaust manifold to mid pipe is worn and causing it but I wanted to confirm.

If you think it's an exhaust issue than get under the car and try to move the exhaust around to replicate the noise. Check all the hangers are present and in good shape and that the heat shielding is not loose. A bad flange gasket at the manifold to mid pipe would just leak and make the exhaust louder.

I had this issue on my sedan. I got jacked the car up and removed both exhaust spring bolts and the donut gasket on the header. I then coated everything in hi temp anti seize and re installed.

It fixed the problem, turns out it was the donut gasket rubbing on the metal backing plate so the anti seize solved that.

Before I removed anything I put my hand on hte mid pipe when I was under the car (make sure it's cool to touch) and moved the mid pipe around. This replicated the squeak and I then realized where it was coming from.

Thanks for the replies i will definitely try it out. I tried taking the bolts out today but they are completely seized. I may try again when I have more time. This definitely sounds like the problem.

Soak them in a penetrating oil (not wd 40) every 15 mins for a couple hours. Then use an impact wrench.

If that doesn't work then you'll have to take a sawzall to them and replace the bolts or use heat to help loosen them.

If they're that seized it may be easier to take them to a local exhaust shop that can do that in 10 mins with the proper tools such as an oxyactylene torch.

Have you smelled exhaust in the cabin lately when the heater fan is running and you're at idle?

I haven't noticed any smell. I think when the engine is under load in gear is the only time the exhaust leak occurs. I have a torch so I'm not too worried about getting it off I just never have time with work and kids etc lol.

I finally got this gasket changed out tonight and you were right that ended up being the problem. The bolts were so corroded I had to use an 11mm socket and a lot of torching but they came loose. The gasket was so mangled it looked like a Brillo pad when I got it off. Thanks again. On that note that exhaust gasket has to be the most expensive gasket I've ever bought. It was 33$ from Toyota with my discount!
