Pure One by Purolator my first choice followed by Royal Purple & Donaldson synthetic media. Just below that Mobil One & K&N that uses synthetic blend and then Wix that uses fiberglass paper blend. Best value is Pure One as I can (at least in my area) get the best price on them. Wix a couple dollars more and Royal Purple & Donaldson twice as much as Pure One. K&N and Mobil One may be found on sale with Mobil One Oil (Brand I use) from time to time,

been using DENSO ( TOYO ) oil filters for years now w/o incident . Nice to have it covered from factory with clear plastic over open end of filter and a vaseline like substance on seal , less mess to fingers . These can be had for $3.50 each when on sale at certain TOYO parts departments , so call and get price . Some may even throw in a free washer for drain plug .

The most important thing is to follow the 5000 mile OCI diligently. Dino is ok. Synthetic is also ok. OEM filter is ok. Aftermarket filter is also ok.

I'd go with the 5w30 Amsoil, because it's 5w30, but not the $1.50 filter...that's their cheapy bargain priced filter, not Wix's/Napa's premium/Gold series filter.

If you find yourself in a Napa store buying a Napa Gold/Wix filter for about $6.00, ask to see one of their Ultra-8/Nippon oil filters (Altrom Import Line) for about $3.50...imo the Nippon filter is a cross between the Toyota OEM filter and the replacement Toyota filter. Small Napa centers may not stock the Ultra-8, but their warehouses and main stores should stock them; I just picked up 9 from the main store.

the AC/Delco oil filter used for older COROLLAs ( Prizm ) , MATRIX ( Vibe ) , etc. will work as well , used that filter for many years without trouble for our '03 MATRIX , '99 COROLLA , and 2000 PRIZM . This oil filter is very common amongst many TOYOTA models , including the YARIS .

I bought the filters from my dealer on sale at $3.95. I use Castrol GTX that was bought at Checkard Auto Parts on sale at $.99/quart. Each oil change costs me 8 bucks.

, carefully top off if needed . The 3 and 1/2 quarts I use for both '08 YARIS bring it to or slightly below the FULL mark . Don't forget oil is still in valve train area and in the oil pan , therefore at least 1/2 quart or so may still exist . You could drain the oil and then measure the amount for comparison .
