adding a back up camera on a factory HU

Hi Folks,

So this one is actually for my dad, he has a 14' Corolla with the 57056 head unit from factory. It does not have a rear view camera but he wants to install one. I know one option is replacing the HU with an after market one and then install a camera, but i'd like to know if it is possible to just get an after market camera and install it.

I don't know what the back of the unit looks like, but maybe something like this from Amazon would work? It doesn't mention what type of head units that it would apply to though.

If the car comes with the factory head unit (made by panasonic?) the cheapest and simplest way to add a backup camera may be a harness kit like the METRA AX-TOYCAM3 around $15 online or some other brand

Application: Corolla 2014-2016

Retains Factory Back-Up Camera to an Aftermarket Radio
- Allows an Aftermarket Camera to be Added to the OEM Screen
- Provides 6-Volt Output for the Factory Back-Up Camera

AX-TOYCAM3

that actually answers most of my questions, however, I was thinking on adapting one like this instead, which is basically the same but with the factory plugs and 6 volts.
