Unhappy Scanguage II connector pins defect??

I tried hooking up my other orange Actron brand scanner after removing my ScanguageII plug to try it out. The Actron does'nt link to the car! I DID link up to a Lincoln Navigator, A Saturn, and my Mom's '06 Corolla though with it.
Upon inspecting the pins in the Scanguage connector plug, I noted two center row top pins are longer than the others.
Is this normal? Can you guys check yours and let my know if you have the same pin setup?
I'm hoping that the wrong pin length was'nt installed into the plug and that it did'nt damage or stretch my pins to the point where only the Scanguage will work on the car now. My NY state inspection program requires a scanning of the car via OBDII. If their machine can't link to my car, that's not a good thing....
Hope y'all can help.....

Looks like you might have bent them, or they've worked loose. I just checked my SGII, and they look equal length to me. Sorry. I'm guessing that you might have to get at the back of the obdII port and push the socket pins back into place so they make good contact with your scanner.

pull out the sunglass holder out right above the OBDII port, and you can pinch the clips holding the port connector in, get down there with a flashlight and make sure they are all pushed in from the back. can you take a pic of the OBDII port?

Does the Actron do CANII as well as OBDII? The Yaris is purely CAN; the K and L lines aren't active. The NY State inspection people will have a scanner, that like ScanGauge, can do both OBDII and CAN. All cars 2008 and newer have to support CAN and OBDII is now considered obsolete.

I popped out the connector and took these pics; The two top center pins are the one's that would be subject to those longer pins...

I doubt it does CAN as it's about 4 years old. Funny, I hav'nt tried it on any 2008 or higher cars! My brother has an '08 Xd. I should try it there then. I just don't get why the two pins are longer....
Thanks for the input. I hope it's just that. I checked the OBDII port pins and they look ok.

It actually has the pins populated for CAN (6 and 14), but considering its age, it probably does CANI at best.

Be advised neither of my connector pics is the Actron. Black is ScanGuage, the white is the car's block. Also, I have an older Actron, not the one pictured....

I can't quite make out what model your Actron is, but it looks the same as my model 9145. Several years ago I ordered a CAN update kit (from Actron) and installed it into my 9145 to enable it to be used on cars using CAN-bus. Cost $45 back then. I don't see an update available on their web site now, but you could call them to see if it's still available.

No, just the DLC3 connector under the dash.

The 9145 is pictured, my model has the cord permanantly attached to the body of the scanner.

those pins may be longer if they have to make the electric connection first, and not in the same time with the rest. probably nothing is wrong with the connector

Correct - Those pins are 4 and 5, which are signal and chassis ground, which you want to make connection before the CAN data pins do.

have you checked your ACC/Outlet fuse? DLC is usually run with that circuit.
