That is 100% true. Turtle Wax is an absolutely chore to remove, and god help you if you get it on trim. I've found it doesn't need to sit on the paint for too long to be effective. The sooner you wipe it off the better.

Zaino really wasn't that bad to use. Once you do the whole system once you really just need to maintain it, which is no worse than any other system. My gripe was the cost of it and the lack of local availability.

I've been using Collinite super doublecoat (#476) for the past few years on both my cars, very cheap and durable wax.

It's a old-style wax, apply it super thin, and do 1-2 panels at a time, or else it's a gigantic workout trying to get it off. Search for it on autopia, you'll find plenty of great reviews.

The problem with carnuba wax is, as the sun hits it, the wax softens and allows all sorts of grit etc to be imbedded into the wax. This is why a clay bar is often nessary to remove everything.

Polymer based waxes do not have this problem but, they usually do not last as long either.

I have been using Statbright Marine Polish with Teflon since the late 80's. I apply it with a buffer lightly, it hazes over and it is dry. I use the buffer to remove it. I use it on my 96 tacoma and shines as good as when i bought it. I have not washed my yaris here in North Carolina for a month, the weather has been crappy, had salt on it from the roads, but we had rain and it washed right off.
Only thing bad about Starbright, is after removing, it leaves a fine white dust that needs to be removed or it will reharden back into the wax. I always hand wash the car after I wax, so the powder is gone.

I applied 476 in November, do you think it will last till march in a PA winter?

turtle wax seems to last an extremely long time as crazy as it sounds. longest lasting ive evevr used, but the best shine is meguires clay bar/quick detailer, polish, and then nxt 2.0 paste. makes your paint very smooth, clean, and very shiny, plus its relatively inexpensive.

I have used finnish Korrek brands "Kestovaha" which means longlasting wax. That wax has won many tests in different car magazines. Lasts much longer than Turtle wax.

some of the best products I have ever used is from here

www.griotsgarage.com their products are professional,the finish lasts for months,it is easy to apply and can be done with buffer or by hand and it wipes back off......

Next month one the sun comes out I will claybar,then rubbing compound the rough spots,then the paint prep,then polish levels up to number 4,then best of show wax......

A bottle of each can be a spendy investment at first but it last for years,I do my car monthly starting in March to December and I after 3 years am finally going to need to buy more products......

their glass polish actually works and removes all water spots effertlessly......

their tire cleaner is so good you will think your tires are brand new like day one.

give them a try if you area serious about a show car shine with clean paint.....their stuff works........it also can be put on in the sun or shade,and the longer you leave it on without wiping off the better it looks........I leave the wax on all night out side even and then wipe off in the morning and the shine is like a mirror even with doing it by hand,no buffer.
