I heard a rumor that MI was planning something like that but dont know if there is/was any truth to it

The manifold was bored for the 1zz opening and the 1nz or 1zz have the same bolt pattern so yes you can swap them

I can't for someone to actually run a 1ZZ on a MI manifold and dyno it. They're a significant improvement over the 1NZ throttle body... especially in driveability. I love mine.

I'm excited to see this done 1.5. I was really excited to do it on mine, so I'll have to live vicariously through you on the build

I know there is a thread on the 1zz TB. What is the PnP part number on the 1zz TB for the Yaris with DriveByWire?

The part number on my 1ZZ is:

22030-0D030

And the difference in throttle response is night and day...

Yeah, they can get pricey. I paid the full going price for a used one on ebay that was in really superb condition.

It was $125 including shipping. They had cheaper ones but some of them look like they were underwarer salvage!

^ That's about right for a really clean one. Dirty/worn/sketchy would be the $60-70 range.

I'm sorry if this has been asked. Is that tb a direct bolt on for our stock intake manifold?

Well, sort of... but not exactly.

A 1ZZ will bolt on because the stud holes are the same as stock at 60mm square, but the diameter of the stock O ring gasket is too small to seal the larger 55mm bore, and I don't believe that the larger butterfly when opened will clear the stock hole either.

I bought a sketchy looking one (will need a cleaning) for $55

quick question / do I (should I) transfer the electronics from the old to the new? (looks interchangeable?) or is it simply plug and play?

I switched mine just to be sure, but you could try it first with the 1ZZ chip.

But I do know this from personal experience... it will NOT work unless you chip out the epoxy and turn the allen key head idle screw counterclockwise about a turn...

It's that tiny screw just above the upper left hand throttle body stud... and don't strip it.

@tooter so the tb installation requires a larger o ring, possible chip swap, removal of epoxy, and adjusting the idle set screw? I skipped anything about the butterfly valve needing space since Im sure MI thought of those dimmensions with the new manifold design since they wanted to be able to combine the two for even better performance.
