Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis live next door. Together, they are the Jarvises.

Like Jarvis, Yaris is a name, so you have two Yarises.

My wife and I say Yarii for plural, Yaris for singular.

We also say Matrices when we're talking about more than one Toyota Matrix.

Sure, but English has irregular plural forms.

Sing - Plural
criterion - criteria
sheep - sheep
brother - brethern (old)
tooth - teeth
forum - fora

Besides, Yaris is a made-up word, which means nobody can be wrong. Wikipedia suggest that it was from from "ja"(German for yes) and "Charis"(a Greek god)

Yes, earljail, you are absolutely correct; Yaris isn't even a real word. However, Yaris is a name. And the rule for pluralizing all names that end in "s" is to simply ad "es".

due to the made-up nature of the word "yaris" in the first place, I propose we make up a new plural that does not follow any existing grammatical formats

Yaruscles?

oh god its the "how do you prounounce al queda" all over again. lol well its all a matter of preference. I however, do not mind the pronounciation of plural yar-eye to be pronounced as yar-ee.

cause yar-ee sounds like yur-ee. which is japanese for lesssssbians :]
