Verso-S transmission
Ok so did a quick search on this forum and didn't see anything about this so asking to see if this is an option or if this has been looked into and deemed not possible
so was looking around for different options for a better transmission and found that the Toyota Verso-S has option for a 1nz-fe engine and 6 speed manual and a 7 speed transmission( sport shift with paddle shifting option) so was wondering if I just missed the post that had this discussion in it because I know I'm not the only one looking for better transmission options (Sorry if missed it I'm at work and popping back and forth from work to car fun) Here is the link to wiki that states what I've seen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Ractis ok so after a bit more digging it is actually the SUBARU TREZIA that is running the 1nz-fe in a AWD and FWD format with the transmission options mentioned above Been looking and from what I have found so far it is the same car just different body shape same frame so may be able to really do some moding Last edited by scod4025; 03-16-2015 at 10:40 AM. I think I could help, but I'd need to know what "better" means to you. Do you need more torque? More top end speed? Different RPM gaps between certain gears?

Really just kicking things around in my head and with the current transmission its quite limited on modifying but would love to get more low end torque with out losing my top end and maybe even taller gears at top end but was also interested in the paddle shifting CVT
Just like to modify things and play with things cant leave them alone I have been looking at your threads on the transmission modifying that you have been doing. With this transmission that may bolt on may be able to do more customizing of gears for either set up and also possible be able to do both more torque with better top end I would like my cake and to eat it to Last edited by scod4025; 03-16-2015 at 11:41 AM. |

The problem that I've had with what you're describing is that I've got plenty of low end torque--3rd gear is a beast in the power band--but even with the super overdrive, there's not enough torque available to do any real acceleration in 5th. It's pretty much just running 3rd to redline and then grabbing 4th or 5th for cruising. I've looked at the paddle shifter option available in Europe (C56/C57 gearboxes) and there's a large amount of other stuff you need to hook up to make it work--e.g. hydraulics for the clutch cylinder, electronics, etc.

These are the reasons that I'm looking at other options then in the Toyota family the Subaru Trezia is a Yaris/Vios just with a different transmission and drive train which is what I'm looking for.
Now all I need to do is find the specs on it in a langue that I can speak so can find out if it will fit |

Here is a link to one for sale in japan that engine compartment looks really familiar
http://www.goo-net-exchange.com/used...002/index.html and if this is true maybe have a whole different car to get parts from like lights and such and maybe ECU |

Unsure as of yet still digging on it.
I have come up with this so far XA-15LN XA-11LN XA-10LN and one mention of a k-311 but don't think that would fit was for a 1.8L and think it was the diesel |

I think the 1.8 is the 2ZR-FE. The 1.4 is normally the diesel. Assuming that the 1.8 is in fact the 2ZR, it would be a direct bolt-up to the engine, and would have much higher power handling (as well as larger output shafts).
Interesting find on the belt parts site. |

ok so here is the best I can find so far will need to get transmission from japan, only place that is running the 1nz bolted to CVT transmission. found the spec sheet for it, gives the transmission breakdown (the last box on the page)
http://www.subaru.jp/trezia/trezia/spec/spec.html Now if I could figure out which transmission it was I would be happy |

Ok and with some looking at spec sheet and the Toyota CVT transmission wiki I strongly feel that it is the K-310 or K-311 numbers match up but my Japanese is horrible so now need help from you guys on this because I'm still learning transmissions would this be a better transmission to get looks like would lose a little low end torque but unsure as to how the FD effects lower gears do know that with this would have a higher top speed but still learning

Unfortunately, I think the next step involves purchasing one and seeing if it fits. I was in the same boat a few years ago with my gearbox project and had to bite the bullet to see if it would work. Fortunately for me, it has.

yeah that was what I was thinking would need to happen been actually looking at importing whole car and see what can swap, found one that would run me about 12k to my door but will keep looking might find a crashy or a good deal on the transmission also looking hard at the ECU because if its a Subaru they are easy to reprogram but so far it looks like its the Toyota ECU from all that I have found

Subaru Trezia ECU!
Ok so found the ECU for a Subaru Trezia on Yahoo Auction japan
it was a bit of a let down http://page21.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/j...ion/j333809978 But it does support that can use parts from this car on the Yaris also found a gauge cluster with tach that I'm pretty sure will work if I get the ECU so I can control the CVT transmission http://page21.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/j...ion/j333809980 well when I can find the transmission to import will start looking at what else is needed a little bit harder |

ok so finally found the part number for the 7 speed CVT transmission
it is the same for the Subaru Trezia and the Toyota Ractis , Vitz RS 3014052242 is for the 2012-2014 3014052240 is for the 2010-2012 It is the Toyota K310 transmission (K312 for the 12-14 model) and they look to run about $2500 for a rebuilt w/o torque converter or $3700 for new with torque converter if anyone has one of these just laying around and want to get ride of it cheap let me know otherwise going to need to save for a bit |

Pretty sure you'd need the computer and wire harness to go along with that transmission swap. we aren't talking about a basic hydraulically controlled transmission here.
