test drive of 2014 Scion iQ Ten Series - Toyota Yaris Forums

Well...a little more than a test drive.

A good friend was bored with his 1 owner 33k mile 2011 Lincoln Town Car. We left in the Town Car Monday at noon...from Houston. Just returned at 8pm tonight. 2000 miles/56 hours to Des Moine, Iowa and return...following the back side of Winter Storm Goliath.

Houston/Dallas/Tulsa/Joplin/KC/Des Moine and return.

The TC was good. 21mpg the entire way up with some remaining headwinds. A bit scary for a couple Texans once north of KC on Tuesday (tge Lincoln is 4.6 liter V8 powered rwd...no locking rear). Our 'southern' windshield washer fluid didn't cut it. Seats weren't as comfy as you'd think.

Toyota of Des Moine was awesome. No surprises. 2014 iQ was immaculate. As new with 6000 miles.

34mpg at 80 mph on return leg. I believe my Yaris would only get about that at 80. Cvt was seemless, with quiet drivetrain-unless under heavy acceleration. iQ was much quieter that my 09 Yaris. Steering was very direct and suspension was more planted. Much easier for me to drive than the TC. More mature feeling than my trd bar equipped Yaris. Very comfortable seats.

The iQ is a really nice ride. I so wish that they would have brought over the 6 speed.

I had a chance to drive one around the block once. It is a pretty cool little car.

My wife has one, bought it new the same month I got my Yaris. She loves it.
