ghetto camcorder mount

Here is a how to for a ghetto camcorder mount that I made for my PT. Should work on any car with regular type adjustable headrests.

I got 3' of 1x1x1/8" aluminum angle
2 u-bolts and assorted hardware

It attaches to the headrest uprights using the U-bolts. I attached it across both seats to help with camera shake. This is the first copy of the mount that will eventually become much nicer and easier to take in and out of the car.

Eventually I will add a rotating base and quick release connectors.

Here is a short clip of the test drive.

Nice mount definitely on the higher side of some I've seen, I would not call it ghetto at all. I have no clue what Geno uses his for as there are many uses. When I had one it was for providing video clips of "who won" but I was a speed addict and still sometimes suffer withdraws

I used it as a sort of ghetto data logger. I would point it at my boost gauge and tach so see where I was spiking to and and what RPM. I also used to use it while doing some spirited driving on my favorite stretch of road.

I was actually planning on getting back into auto-x with the Yaris. I gave up on it and sold my Neon a few years back.

If I do get back into it I plan on mounting lipstick cameras in the fog light area.

I suppose the camera could go through the windshield but I don't see it chopping my head off.

Plus I don't make it a habit of driving around the street with it.

I started (finally) making a mount for my front headrests yesterday, if I can get access to my school's machine shop, I should have it finished by tomorrow.
