Need to run 12 volt into compartment from battery

I've looked on the fire wall and I see a grommet but if I use that one then I will have to remove some of the dash. I tried pulling on the corner of the passenger side dash but it wouldn't give and I didn't want to break any of those tabs I read about. I want to hook up my CB radio to the battery directly. Has any one found an easy spot in the fire wall to do this? Also I plan on some extra front lighting and having a power source from the battery to the inside would be great.

I punched a total of 3 holes so far through the firewall of my sedan and then installed my own grommets. I would recommend doing that. I am sure that there are others here with the LB that has done so too. You could search the DIY section especially for those that have done one for hooking up a stereo amp. You could also PM CTScott or he may chime in. He has an LB and has done extensive work with it.

Thanks fnkngrv. My hesitation is, the car is only a few months old and I am worried about having the warranty compromised. I used the large rubber grommets under the spare tire to run my CB antenna cable because I could always replace them for a couple of bucks but drilling a hole into the fire wall would not be that easy to repair should the dealership be looking for an excuse for some warranty work in the future.
If my car was out of warranty, I would not hesitate to drill for my convenience.

you can always put a plug in and I can just about guarantee that with a plug in a dealership would never know unless the specifically looked for it. did you wireloom your cable?

I had to punch a hole in my firewall for my subs when I hooked them up, I'm with Adrian - I recommend that .... and my car was about a week old when I did mine :) Toyota didn't notice and/or didn't care.

Right behind the battery is a giant grommet (~3" in diameter) for the main wiring harness. It has a lot of available space to punch through. I ran four #4 wires for my snowplow solenoid through it with room to spare. In the cabin it enters about a foot above the brake pedal.

Wire loom, a protective casing around the actual wire. My cable has a fantastic shield and protective covering which should do. No heat source close to the actual antenna cable.

It is easier if you do, but if you feed something through the grommet from under the dash, you can typically find it under the hood, and then attach the wire to it and pull it back through.

I had a terrible time trying to get something thru there.
A coat hanger with a bit of grease rubbed on it finally did it.
Takes a bit of twisting and cussing.

I looked everywhere yesterday and I couldn't find the location from under the hood ?

I found the grommet inside the cabin. It's above the brake pedal. But didn't locate anything under the hood ? Thanks

You can't see it without removing the Wiper tray and battery. I use a 1/8" plastic rod to poke through and snake out. What tends to happen is that you poke through the grommet and then hit the back of the plastic piece that supports the Y on the harness, or you poke though and hit the back of the battery.

Correct - You will poke through it. To remove it (to cut a little slit and slide the probe wire in without shoving the probe through) would require pulling the wiper tray off to give you full access to it.
