Ebay Android HU Install
Whats up guys! Currently running a Joying 8" Android HU in my Tundra and love a lot of the features. So I decided to look for a cheaper alternative for the yaris (since its my daily) and found one on ebay for under 200 bucks with a backup camera. WIN! so now im waiting for the HU to come in. Decided to do a write up on it since i haven't seen too many on here (have been having trouble posting, so hopefully this works)
Here is the 28P connector Diagram. I have the base model Yaris so I dont have steering wheel controls or and external mic, and i will be losing the AUX input with the aftermarket radio. So I won't be gettting a harness for this little guy The other inputs in the radio are the standard Toyota ones for the speakers and power, a USB, and and antenna adapter. I will update the part numbers as i buy them ***UPDATE*** Finally!!! So wiring was a piece of cake, i put the gps antenna in the dash and the wifi antenna above the glove box Harness GPS Antenna WIFI Antenna So I have come to the conclusion this headunit can't be used with the dumbo ear spacers. I tried everything and tore up the factory brackets (I'll be buying new ones soon) and ended up buying an aftermarket bezel. At the end of the day it looks better in my opinion. Parts I used: TOYOTA STEREO HARNESS- Metra 70-1761 TOYOTA ANTENNA ADAPTER- IMC AUDIO TO TOYOTA USB HARNESS- AXXESS AX-TOYUSB CARAV11-342 FASCIA PANEL Pros: The head unit itself, for under $200USD, I think is a great deal. It definitely boots up WAY slower than the Joying unit in my tundra, but that unit was twice as much. The image quality is pretty awesome and has a nice finish. You can also pair it with a bluetooth obd2 and run torque, which is awesome Cons: Their Tech Support BLOWS. They pretty much tell you the head unit is universal so if something isn't quite right to take it to a professional. My question to them was if there was a specific mounting kit they recommended or knew worked best with their unit.... Luckily The peeps over at CARAV where way more knowledgeable and Got me the bezel that fit like a glove. Overall Im pretty happy with it so far, and besides the dumbo ears sitting on top of the radio bezel causing it to be too wide, everything works as i thought. I will get more pics of the torque function once my obd2 comes in More Pics

When you say you won't be getting a harness for the car, do you mean you're cutting the original harness in the car? If that is the case, as someone who has bought a lot of used cars, please don't hack up the factory harness. Haha

Got the unit in, man could not get the bezel to fit over the radio and the dumbo ears. I'll probably end up trimming the bezel, is this necessary for other radios?
