OEM Foglight Red Wire Controversy

Hey Gang,
Been chatting with Blenjar, there seems to be some confusion as to the red wire connection on the OEM foglight kit. Thought I'd chime in, the deal is that you want to power the switch that goes to the relay with a separate 12 volt line. (not the hard line to the battery.) The reason for this is so that when the switch for the foglights is engaged (closed), it provides 12 volts to the relay coil. When the relay coil is energized (from the 12 volts), it closes the relay contact. By this the circuit is completed and the foglights light. You already have 12 volts from the hard line to the battery sitting on the relay contact, so you need a second power source(the grey wire on the cigarette lighter is the way to go.)
Hope that clears this up, I'm waiting on my kit from Jimcat.

well you can hook both up to the hard-line to the battery (if you want to power on the fogs without the car being on)...

but having the 2nd line going to cig. lighter, makes it so you dont have to worry about leaving the fogs on and draining your battery
