sorry about late update. i put in the oem bulbs and the low beam works fine. looks like the low beam portion of the aftermarket bulb went (perhaps the filaments? iono)
now both low + high beams are working great

also, try another thing:leave the car operating on neutral and stationary ,and open the door while the lights are on "high". have you heard a beep of the warning system? if it's beeping, transfer the knob to "normal" and see what happens.i think this might give us a proper direction on how to solve this.
I have the same problem as high beam is not working.
Checked door opening beep and it makes sound in high and low beams.
Is there any relay for high beam?

Any body having any luck with (9003 or H4) LED h/light bulbs for Yaris. My parts store carries Brightsource, but their part number is not necessarily recommended for my 2007 3door hatch, seems they might flicker.
