Unhappy Car accident

Results of my first car accident ever I don't have the most comprehensive insurance policy from Progressive [i have a liability-only policy] so they won't cover the costs to the damage. I'll be paying everything out-of-pocket.

What's your estimate on the damages below? 2007 Yaris.

Check out ebay for replacing that front bumper. Did your airbag go off?

wow...new front bumper from toyota would be alot of money, prolly 400 bucks, try ebay...still have to get it painted most likely if you find one, and for a decent paint job look for 100-200 bucks. looks like you tweaked the hood too, or the fenders. best case scenario? the fenders got knocked out of alignment and you have to take the bolts loose and reposition them. worst case, you will have to straighten the hood.

unless you popped the hood open for the shots, looks like its tweaked.
does the hood close? do the doors rub on the fenders? you may have to remove the hood latch and bend the brace back to where it was if the hood doesnt close right. i need a side shot or more info.

Thanks for the advice! The hood closes. The doors rub moderately against the fenders. Side & more shots below.

Full Coverage Car insurance - 400 every 6 mos

ridicule from friends - 100 cool points

replacing your busted front end with after market components and looking better than before . . . priceless . . .

Yeah, the key is the frame. If there is no damage there, the rest is cosmetic and should cost under a grand. If your doors are rubbing, though... IDK.

Liability only isn't totaling anything out...

Unless you bought the car for cash, I bet who ever financed your car doesn't like you not having full coverage...

If your car is financed through a bank normally they would require collision insurance (full coverage) and want proof of that by obtaining a copy of your policy as well as be listed as the lienholder of the vehicle. When a vehicle is financed, its not yours, its the bank and they want to protect their investment. However, is you paid cash for the vehicle then then none of this really applies.

Mainstream insurance companies (Allstate, State Farm, etc) will consider a vehicle a total loss at about 80% of damage vs. value of car at time of the accident. Some insurance companies will still pay to fix a car @ 80% depending on the make/model, the 80% is a general guideline.

Just from looking at the pics of your car, to have your car repaired properly and back to the way it was is at least a couple thousand dollars and until you get the front end off the car you wont know if you have any mechanical damage. Since the doors rub on the fenders there is likely structural damage like Echo said.

When I got insurance with my insurance company, State Farm, they pretty much wouldn't insure me unless I had gotten full coverage. You should always get full coverage on a new car.
