195/65R-15 tires
Anyone running 195/65R-15 tires on their stock rims? I run 195/60-15 studded snow tires in the winter, but only mount them when a sizable storm is predicted. Any info is welcome. Thanks, Bill C

A 195/65/15 is 5.5% larger in diameter. It would affect fuel economy and acceleration. I currently run 195/55/15 on my Yaris.

This is my 3rd season running 195/65/15. Running General all season for the winter.
Never had a problem with a little careful driving. Been through a few good snows. |

I'm just curious: Why would you run 195/65/15?

Most of the time the roads are dry and I'm a little aggressive.

I have 195/55/15 on mine as well. Stock steelies, but I also have wheel spacers. 25mm front, 30mm rear. It rubs in the back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I want to try the larger tires on my stock rims as a bridge between my 185/60-15 summer tires on aluminum rims and the 195/60-15 studded snow tires on stock steel rims. As I have found in the 2 small snow storms we have had so far the summer tires are horrendous. The studded snows are not very good when it is above freezing on non snow covered roads. Bill C

You really shouldn't have a problem with 195/65/r15, but why don't you just go with 185/60's ? Narrower tires are better in snow anyways and they are usually cheaper.
What's the point of upsizing? |

So I had my Hankook Optimo 724 tires mounted today. These are the 195/65R-15 tires that I got on Walmart.com for $45.33/tire. It was $58.00 all in for mounting, lifetime balancing, lifetime rotation, TPMS rebuilds, and tire disposal. Before they mounted them they confirmed that I knew they were larger than the original tires. I only put about 30 miles on them but my initial impression is they ride a little bit better than the original tires. Bill C

Nice, good to know. Does the taller tire have any other noticeable differences? Any rubbing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I run 195/60R15 on my 2014 Yaris that I use for work. I noticed it's a little slower than the other's at acceleration because of it but the mileage hasn't suffered. Main reason for getting them was the clearance pricing that Walmart had... Bridgestone Ecopias for $22 a tire... sadly they only had four or I would have bought more and I've called every other walmart I could find within two hours and they were all sold out.
