2009 with 187k miles. Looks like new. Regular oil changes, one new battery, one trans fluid and coolant change and a new set of tires (dealer Bridgestone were good for 150k miles!) That's it!! Just got back from brake check. No need for new pads. Still using original pads. Still getting 40 mpg!!

I agree, you can't go wrong. Other than what you've had by 187k I (by that mileage) also had an alternator and front wheel bearings, and a few bulbs....not much since except 2 batteries in this heat. = amazing re your tires. Mine have been 70,000-85,000 per set.

I still have my original brakes at almost 282k miles. I just had my brakes checked in February....many more miles of life left. IIRC, my pads were under 40% worn at 208k miles (actual figure is on Kal-El's mileage thread). Yarisworld member trini_per4mance (an original owner who has more than 500k miles on his Yaris) didn't have to do any brake work at all on his Yaris until 400k miles.

Re my Yaris, my miles are a good mixture of highway and surface streets with signals or stop signs. I think the main reason in my case is that I drive my Yaris pretty gently. With Trini (judging from his previous You Tube videos), I think you're right. He doesn't drive gently, but drove a ton of highway miles when he was racking up the miles quickly on his Yaris.

Yeah, my driving style is somewhat that of a hypermiler, but my maintenance gaps re some things (spark plugs, oil changes, air filter changes, etc) and ignoring others (throttle body, MAF, etc.) probably keep me from getting consistent 'hypermiler results'.

Just remembered I replaced air filter once (cleaned old one a few times) and yeah its ben mostly highway miles. But up and down California coast and meandering the Sierras is full of braking. The mechanics at the shop were also shocked at the original brakes.
