I have extended warranty on my Yaris (until this coming October), and I am getting the dreaded ABS (!) problem common to the Yaris fixed. It is from what I have heard an expensive repair, and I am having it repaired under warranty. So from my point of view .. though you may not think you may use it, it is welcome when you have to use it.

if you plan to mod extensivly i would skip it. and if you can afford a possible $500-800 repair for something i would also skip it.

if you are buying a brand new car, then yes, the warranty is necessary, because every so often a pos gets kicked out of the pipeline. I wouldn't spend a dime on lengthening that warranty though.
