You will always have the trophy wives driving their huge SUVs with nobody else in the vehicle as they can afford to pay $100 a gallon. Then you have the guys compensating for small penises driving the huge trucks like the Titans. What is the need for these vehicles in the cities?

Oh well, still loving the Yaris and the 40mpg.

I happen to be one of the lucky few that get 40+ MPG out of my Yaris and my motorcycle does not do much better. For the first time in my life my car is on par with my motorcycle.

What kind of bike? I'm talking small displacement, no Hayabusa crap. I'm sure there is a 250 out there that gets 60 MPG.

guys this thread is starting to go nowhere fast... As much as it is educational to debate about the reasons of high gas prices, we should just use this thread to compare prices in different places and leave the politics out of it. So I'm gonna clean up a bit, and we can go back to our usual programming, alright?

I have no reason to bitch about gas prices. I'm still glad I'm in the US paying $3.50 a gallon instead of in Germany where it's 1.40 Euro a liter.

1.4 Euro = $1.88 USD

Liter to gallon conversion is 3.785 liters in a gallon.

3.785
x 1.88
=7.11 dollars per gallon.

In Yakima, WA (87 octane) low is $3.279-Arco, Costco while high is $3.599 (Shell, Chevron, Texaco). When I had to go 2 hours north, prices were about $.05 higher for lower grades, while actually cheaper than my area for more quality gas. Diesel which has been making premium look cheap, is actually $3.19 gallon now. The gas station across from my work is a Chevron, and for a while there they were raising prices 12-20 cents a day!

Well my motorcycle has basically the same power plant as my Yaris oddly enough. The perfect match for the Yaris would be either a Suzuki Bergman, or the Honda Silverwing IMO. I have ridden both of the "Super Scooters" and they are fantastic!!! As a matter of fact if I get enough OT in this summer I think I am going to sale my monster bike and get me a scooter. I ride almost the entire year and these scooters both have good wind perfection and enough electrical capacity allowing me to run my heated clothing in the winter.

The old Kawasaki 305 was that bike. Top end was high enough not to worry about slow, redline about 10,500, and fuel efficiency great. Rode winter and summer in RI for a couple of years till the missus bought me a car

I started riding 38 years ago and don't think I am going to stop any time soon. The only part I hate is not being able to handle the cold as well. I use a bunch of heated stuff which helps, but I still hate the below freezing rides. I guess one day I will break down and get a Gold Wing which will make it easier on my ass during the winter.

Heh. I wondered why there might be a Kiss fan driving a Yaris. I thought you were just a misguided youth, but it seems you were corrupted long ago. I can't say much tho, I was corrupted by Shiek Yerbouti -- so as far as 70's noise goes, I'm a Zappa fan. Takes all kinds to drive a Yaris eh?

Hmmmm, I might have seen this Zappa man you speak of in my past. As a matter of fact I might also seen Blondie live at CBGB's in a past life.

Well, late in the summer of '69,
I went downtown, and bought me some wine.
Oh, I drank it down, under the table,
I said "Watch me now, I'm gon eat the label!"
Well, I'm a wino-man, don't you know I am?

36, 24, hips about 30.
I see a fine lady and I start talkin' dirty.
Boy, she looked over at me, and she raised her thumb.
She said "Jam down the road, you bum b-bum bum!"
I'm a wino-man, don't you know I am?

I went to the country,
and while I was gone,
I lost control of my body functions,
[these lyrics are found on http://www.songlyrics.com]
on a roller-headed lady's front lawn.
I'm so ashamed, but I'm a wino-man, I can't help myself.

I been drinkin' all night 'til my eyes got red.
Stumbled on the gutter and busted my head.
Bugs in my zoot suit. Been scratchin' like a dog.
Can't stand no water, and I stink like a hog.

Give me a five dollar bill, and an overcoat too.
Give me a five dollar bill, and an overcoat too.
A five dollar bill, and an overcoat too,
a five dollar bill, and a Florscheim shoe.

I'm sure St. Alphonzo would be proud, but I still haven't made my Zappa mix CD yet!

Yes indeed,
Here we are,

At St. Alphonzo's Pancake Breakfast
Where I stole the margarine
And wheedled on the Bingo cards
In lieu of the latrine

Did anyone see the news yesterday? The US sent 7 destroyers to accompany those two carriers. They're performing tests.

When we go to war with Iran, $3.50 is going to look like a fucking bargain.
