When my original tires wear out (which I expect will take a long time), I'll only look at two numbers to choose replacements: Treadwear and price.

I replaced the OE Bridgestone's at 53k with a set of BFG Traction T/A's. My first choice was the Michelin Harmony's but I couldn't find them anywhere. I would not get the BFG's again as they are pretty noisy on the the highway. I sell quite a few tires each day (working at a dealership) and Michelin's are by far the best riding tires.

I still got "Michelin Pilot Exalto/AS" tires on my Celica (it was my DD) and they are without a doubt the best AS tire I ever had. They excell in every area which is remarkable considereing they are AS.

I'm sold on Michelins.

Michelins MS/LTXs (trucks only) on the Tacoma. They handle nicely refuse to wear out. Falken 912s on the Yaris, great instant improvement in handling, but they seem to be wearing rather quickly (as expected), but then again they were so cheap ($50 each)that they can be affordably replaced.

I had Yokohama Avid Touring, and then, after 4 years of quiet and comfy ride, one of my set of four developed a bubble (on my Nissan Quest). The shop said that the tire was defective but, prorated, a replacement was pretty expensive. Went with cheap chinese newcomers called Prime Well, a decision I immediately regretted since my MPG went down 3-4 miles and the ride is not the same anymore.
Lesson learned - even the best out there can croak, but still be more enjoyable and reliable than what is sold cheaper. Go with Yokohama or some other better known brand out there.

Me too: the lowest on the first number and the highest on the second.
