New 2012 Yaris L, 5 speed

I took delivery this past Thursday of a new 2012 Yaris L, 5 speed in Blue Lagoon Mica. With 299 on the odometer it has averaged 42.6 MPG. $15,260 out the door.

i think that is the yaris with the best value. you still get ac and power locks and a stereo...the necessities.

the only other way to get a stick is to spend a bunch more for the se.

not surprised that the yaris stick will get easily over 40 mpg's. the previous stick i had got 43 mpg's every tank and the new yaris is rated 2 mpg's higher.

but, yeah, pics or it didnt happen.

Just curious, but do you guys with sticks get better mileage because you can coast in neutral?

shouldnt be coasting in neutral. coasting in neutral fails to take advantage of decel fuel cutoff.

-manual transmission car is lighter
-no parasitic losses that you get in the auto trans.
-manaul drivers that know what they are doing can keep their car in the most efficient gear at a given speed

I filled my 2012 Yaris this morning., The dealer sort of had it full when I picked it up on 11/10/2011, I would guess they stopped at first click, but it will take another gallon after that. It had 1.1 miles on it at pick up. So on 390 miles it burned 9.035 gallons yielding an economy of 43.05 MPG. I drive about 95% highway miles, so I would expect to see 44 to 46 MPG at my next fill up due to the fact I always fill to the neck and the dealer hadn't.

P.S. Maybe I can take some pictures this afternoon and post them.

Nice. My choice would be between white and this color. White is more classic and timeless, but this color looks like it's kind of classic too. I think the Lagoon Blue is distorted on Toyota's website - looks much better in your pics.

Truth. I bet it is a jaw-dropping color in person as the light moves over it. I can't wait to see one in person. This color is definitely in the running for my final choice; I could look at this color for 10-15 years and not get tired of it.

Again, very nice color choice.

Just filled up 30 minutes ago got 43.13 on this tankful.
The background of the picture is my house.
The Lagoon Blue Mica appears to be different shades depending on the amount of light that hits it.

I am quite happy and satisfied with this car, it lacks the acceleration of my Golf TDI, but corners really well giving the feeling it is on rails going around curves. I was going to get a Scion iQ, but because they are not offering the 6 Speed manual in this country and only the doggy CVT automatic, I had my dealer cancel my order and switch it to a Yaris back in September. I have been enticing those prospective iQ buyers that want a manual transmission to look at the Yaris. See url:
